China Center for the Economics of Human Development (CCEHD) was jointly established by Beijing Normal University and China Development Research Foundation and was officially established on December 18, 2017.
The research center set up an academic committee. Professor Zhong Binglin, the president of the China Education Association and the former president of Beijing Normal University, and Lu Mai, vice chairman and secretary general of China Development Research Foundation, jointly served as the director of the academic committee. The center invited top experts at home and abroad to serve as academic members. Professor Li Shi and Fang Jin serve as the directors of the research center. The research center consists of eight research groups, including child nutrition group, child health group, early intervention and psychological development group, education and skills formation group, inequality and intergenerational mobility group, geriatric nutrition and health group, human development effectiveness and policy evaluation group, and data survey and analysis group.
The research center plans to launch a nationwide longitudinal survey of more than 20 years to obtain the psychological, health and medical, education, and labor market performance of people in different life cycle stages, and establish a tracking database for human development research in China. Based on this, we conduct multidisciplinary research on psychology, education, economics, etc., and explore the rules of nutrition, medical and health, physical and mental development, capacity development and labor market performance of people throughout the life cycle. With world class research institutions and research teams, it provides support for national policy formulation and contributes to the realization of people's integrated development and capacity improvement, and the realization of fair and sustainable development of people and society.

Basic Task 1. Collect high-quality tracking data and provide research foundation.
Combining with the existing international research, we will design a questionnaire for each stage of human development in China, and conduct a longitudinal survey for more than 20 years nationwide to obtain the psychological, health and medical, education, and labor market performance of people in different life cycle stages. Establish a tracking database for human development research in China.
2. Conduct regular research in different fields to create top academic institutions
We will explore the performance of human beings’ investment in human development from different aspects, including child nutrition, child health, early intervention and psychological development, education and skill formation, inequality and intergenerational mobility, and human development effects and policy evaluation. Provide theoretical support for improving the effectiveness of training in each stage, and the realization of human fair development.
3. Conduct monographic study and play the role of social think tank
The central research team sets up research directions and conducts monographic study on hot issues in human development; actively undertakes commissioned projects of specific policies or programs for government agencies, and provides advice and support for policy makers and government departments. Guide and promote the implementation of policies and contribute to the development and prosperity of human beings.
