- Introduction to the presenter
Dr. Chen Xi is currently an assistant professor of global health policy and economics at Yale. He is also the professor at the Yale Center for Social Policy, Climate Change and Health, McMillan Center, and Yale-China Association. His research focuses on public policies such as population ageing, child development, and quality of life.
He is also a consultant at the UNU World Institute for Development Economics, a senior researcher at the German Institute for Labor Economics and the Global Labor Organization (chairman of the Environment and Human Capital Group), the president of the China Society for Health Policy and Management, and the external reviewer of United Nations, the National Science Foundation, National Institute of Health, and the Norwegian government, senior researcher at the Cornell University Center for Health Economics and Inequality, senior researcher at Peking University, and visiting professor at Nanjing University. He co-leads the daily academic activities of the Yale Institute for Aging and the Claude D. Pepper American Center for the Aged.
Dr. Chen Xi's research has won several awards including the Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award from the American Society of Agricultural and Applied Economics, the PEPPER Scholar Award from the National Institutes of Health, and the George Warren Applied Economics Research Award. He has hosted more than 40 papers published by the National Institutes of Health, the US Department of Agriculture's Bureau of Economic Research, the American Center for Aging and Independence, and US non-profit organizations, which has been reported by more than 100 global media. He was invited to serve as a medical reform and public health commentator for the China Central Television English Channel.
Dr. Chen Xi has directed more than 20 postgraduate and postdoctoral fellows to study health issues in China, and his undergraduate students have been awarded the Best Undergraduate Thesis Award from Yale University. He received a PhD in Applied Economics from Cornell University.
