On the morning of May 10, UNICEF Ms. Roshni Basu and Ms. Chen Tingting visited the Center for Development Economics. Professor Tao Sha, the head of the Early Childhood Intervention and Psychological Development Research Group, and the Director of the Children and Adolescent Brain Research Center, on behalf of the Center, expressed a warm welcome. Professor Song Yan, Professor Zhou Xinlin and Professor Qin Shaozheng of the State Key Laboratory of Cognitive Neuroscience and Learning at Beijing Normal University also participated in the event. The two sides conducted the discussion of promoting the development of children and promoting the growth of young people.
Ms. Roshni Basu suggested that adolescents are a separate stage from early childhood and adulthood. They often face many problems. The development of adolescent brains has a greater impact on emotional skills and physical and intellectual abilities. How to explore the important factors affecting human development through survey data and other research methods, and provide evidence support for policy implementation is of great significance.
Professor Tao Sha further pointed out that the current research on children's learning disabilities and psychological problems have made some progress, but child development is a very complex problem, covering many fields such as physiology, cognition and emotion, and social concern.And the Society also has a higher concern. They discussed about integrating existing achievements, deepening understanding of the field, and developing a new research framework to be the future goal and direction.
Finally, the two sides further communicate on the important factors that affect the future achievements of children's brain and mathematical cognition, language cognition, adolescent anxiety and stress, as well as the gender differences.
In this communication, the two sides are committed to explore the important factors that affect the development of children and the development of young people, and use the existing research to promote the development of cognitive capital, and apply the basic research results to practice in order to promote the development of children and adolescents.
