The bilateral meeting between CCEHD and CEHD was held successfully

On the morning of March 23, 2018, at the Jingshi Building of Beijing Normal University, the bilateral consultation meeting between the China Center for the Economics of Human Development (CCEHD) and the Center for the Economics of Human Development (CEHD) was held successfully. The conference mainly centered on the content of cooperation and the mode of cooperation of the two centers. And the two sides have carried out fruitful communication and consultation on promoting CCEHD. The meeting was attended by Professor James J. Heckman, Director of CEHD at the University of Chicago, Professor Li Shi, Director of the CCEHD, Executive Dean of the China Institute of Income Distribution, and professor of the School of Economics and Business Administration of Beijing Normal University, Fang Jin, Director of the Center for Economic Research, Deputy Secretary General of the China Development Research Foundation , Research Fellow of the State Council Development Research Center, and heads of CCEHD research groups, including Professor Wang Xiaoli and Professor Li Zhiwen of Peking University School of Public Health and Tao Sha, Department of Psychology, Beijing Normal University Professor, Professor Zhao Zhong, Associate Dean of School of Labor and Human Resources, Renmin University of China, Visiting Scholar of China Institute of Income Distribution, Professor Wang Xiaobing of Manchester University, Associate Professor Wan Haiyuan, Vice President of China Institute of Income Distribution, Zhao Chen, deputy director of China Development Research Foundation and Zhou Jin, postdoctoral fellow of the University of Chicago.
At the beginning of the talks, the two sides communicated on the research results and data of the center. Fang Jin, Deputy Secretary-General, introduced the relevant data of China Development Research Foundation. Professor Tao Sha shared the achievements of the psychological model . Professor Li Zhiwen showed the achievements of the medical and health model . Professor Zhao Zhong Shared relevant research and data of Renmin University of China. Professor James J. Heckman gave a detailed introduction to the research status and future research direction of CEHD.
Subsequently, Professor Li Shi, the joint director of CCEHD, and Deputy Secretary-General Fang Jin, presented the certificate of the CCEHD Academic Committee to Professor James J. Heckman and held the opening ceremony of the Central Office.
At the end of the meeting, the two sides conducted in-depth discussions on cooperation matters and reached the following consensus. First, to deepen the cooperative relationship, the two sides will further strengthen support and cooperation and establish long-term cooperative relations. Second, clarify the cooperation model and strengthen the communication and collaboration of the research team through project cooperation. Third, improve the details of cooperation, jointly promote research and practice, and accelerate the research process.
In the afternoon, Professor James J. Heckman gave a speech at “The Causal Effects of Education on Earnings, Health and Smoking” at the Jingshi Hall of Beijing Normal University. Professor Heckman used the dynamic model of education selection to study the causal effects of education, health and smoking. After the speech, the teachers and students were eager to ask questions. Professor Heckman answered them one by one, and the lecture ended successfully with warm applause.
