The first working seminar of China Center for the Economics of Human Development (CCEHD) was success

On the morning of January 11, 2018, the first working seminar of CCEHD was held at the China Development Research Foundation. The meeting was attended by Lu Mai, the Chairman of the Academic Committee of the Research Center, Professor Li Shi and Fang Jin, the Joint Director of the Research Center, Professor Ye Rongwei, School of Public Health in Peking University, and Head of the Research Groups, including Professor Wang Xiaoli of Peking University School of Public Health, Professor Tao Sha, Department of Psychology, Beijing Normal University, Professor Hong Xiumin, Institute of Preschool Education, Professor Luo Chuliang from the School of Economics and Business Administration and Director Du Zhixin from China Development Research Foundation, Director Yu Jiantuo, Deputy Director Zhao Chen, Deputy Director Qiu Yue, Project Director Liu Wei and Yang Xiuna, etc. The conference focused on 2018 work plan, including mid- and long-term plan of CCEHD.
At the beginning of the meeting, the participating members introduced the data resources of the team. Mr. Du Zhixin and Ms. Zhao Chen introduced the project development and data of the China Development Foundation on children's nutrition and health; Ms. Qiu Yue shared the Foundation's research on aging. Later, Professor Li Shi introduced the China Household Income Project (CHIP) data surveyed by the China Institute for Income Distribution in 1989, 1996, 2003, 2008 and 2014. Professor Li also introduces the data of the population monitoring surveyed by the Family Planning Commission since 2010 and other public survey data, which can provide better support for the following studies. Professor Luo Chuliang shared issues on the inequality of socialized property and the structuralization of income inequality. The recent research focuses on educational inequality and the relationship between income and property inequality and educational inequality. Then, Professor Wang Xiaoli shared the previous research on the development of children's cohort and a number of policy evaluation projects. Professor Hong Xiumin is more focused on preschool education research, paying attention to monitoring the quality of preschool education, primary and secondary education, and has accumulated a lot in this field.
After introducing the data resources of the current research teams, Professor Li Shi, the director of the center, organized the experts to further discuss and determine the specific work plan of the center in 2018: First, establish the research center data intelligent library and professional literature library. Second, propose research questions in 2018, and set up a special group to accelerate the output of results. Third, establish an annual meeting mechanism and accountability system, and build an efficient research team. Fourth, further refine how to establish a scientific tracking investigation implementation plan. The work plan was also highly recognized by the Chairman of the Academic Committee, Lu Mai.
