Mainly engaged in epidemiological research work on birth defects and other adverse pregnancy outcomes. He has presided over or participated in the design and implementation of a number of Sino-US cooperation projects, national 973 projects, science and technology research projects, and the National Natural Science Foundation. He has published more than 60 papers in domestic and international professional journals such as International Journal of Epidemiology, American Journal of Epidemiology, and Chinese Epidemiology.
